Unit 437 Everett Bridge Unit Board Meeting
December 19, 2012
Attendees: JoAnn Smith, Ernie Staudt, Ron Tracy, Al Walker, Donna Bailey (board member elect) Vena Paiva (retiring board member). Club Manager Sharon Erwin. Nick Tipton joined us later.
Excused: Marla Patterson
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President JoAnn Smith.
Election of officers and committee positions are as follows:
President – JoAnn Smith
Vice-President – Al Walker
Secretary – Marla Patterson (with her concent)
Treasurer – Ernie Staudt
Education/Ethics and Disciplinarian Ron Tracy.
Sunshine – Mary Carlson
Christmas Party
The Christmas party was reviewed and it was decided to look for another person to prepare the prime rib. The cost is just too expensive ($580). It was also decided to purchase sturdy disposable plastic plates rather than rent the dishes.
December 15th is the date selected for the 2013 Christmas party. Ernie will contact and make the reservation.
The picnic/summer gathering was discussed and we will have burgers and hot dogs, possibly prepared in the kitchen rather than on BBQ’s. Sharon will provide summer sectional/regional dates so we can select on that does not interfere with any that are regularly attended by our group.
Financial
Ernie reported that we have $1863.81 in our business checking account with some Christmas expenses paid?. Our investment account has $4854.89. This is in addition to our CD’s.
Sharon will work with Ernie to computerize and set up some things to be auto paid.
Ernie’s preference is to reimburse those that spend funds on purchases rather than having multiple debit cards. It was decided to prepare to have an audit of our finances in early spring.
Goals for Unit Expansion
We would like to add at least one day game to our unit. Sunday seems the best choice.
Duane Herzig is willing to discuss his involvement as director but wants to share with others so he isn’t committed full time.
The rent for our room at the Everett Plaza was discussed and it appears we are in arrears. Ernie will bring us up to date on or rent so that we may approach them regarding adding a Sunday game there. If that isn’t possible other venues will be explored.
We will look into having lessons again possible once a month prior to our regular game. Donna is willing to work with Ron on that.
The next meeting of the board will be January 23, 2013 at 6:30 PM.
