EVERETT UNIT 437 BOARD MEETING OF 2/28/2018

The meeting was called to order by President JoAnn Smith at 6:43 pm. Present were JoAnn Smith, Turid Fredrickson, Marla Patterson, and Ernie Staudt.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Outstanding minutes were approved as distributed, with minor typo corrections.

2. Mark and Melinda Lawson have resigned from the Board, as they have moved to Phoenix, AZ, area. Ernie Staudt has agreed to be appointed to fill Mark’s term of office. His appointment was unanimously approved by all present board members (Marla was voting Dave’s proxy). One position remains to be filled. We have a couple more members to approach.

3. Turid was elected as Vice President.

NEW BUSINESS:

· Review of Sectional Business:

· JoAnn sent the rent check, but forgot about the damage and cleaning deposits. She will send another check this week.

· Email confirmation from David Taylor for tables, etc., and he also handling the bridgemates now.

· Tony and Diana available for caddies if needed.

· Everything else is on track. Just need to encourage people to come and bake more cookies.

· Dave and Jo are authorized to go to the bank to close out the CD’s, transfer accounts where necessary and get David Fallen’s name on the accounts as an authorized check signer.

· Briefly discussed the sending of flowers to anyone hospitalized. Flowers and delivery fees have become enormously expensive. Given the age of our members and the possibility of several hospital stays in one year for a single person, we would like to revisit this policy. Maybe we can send just cards for illnesses and send flowers if the member or their spouse passes. Final decision will wait until we have a full complement of board members.
